The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) has said the collection of digital access fee from broadcasting stations in the country is “complicated and illegal.”

BON in a communique issued after a meeting by its Central Working Committee (CWC) in Abuja called for immediate stoppage of the fee while the amount so far collected should be accounted for.

“The CWC finds the collection of Digital Access Fee complicated and illegal. The meeting therefore calls for the immediate stoppage of the collection of Digital Access Fee while the amount so far collected should be accounted for”, the communique signed by the CWC chairman and executive secretary, Sa’a Ibrahim and Dr Yemisi Bamgbose respectively, said.
