Some attackers suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly killed the Chief Imam of Kaga, Imam Goni Muktar, and a vigilante in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
It was learnt that the insurgents in a Volkswagen gulf stormed the imam’s residence at Malamti, an outskirt of Benishek at about 12:30 am on Monday.
According to a Civilian Joint Task Force source, the mode of operation was purely that of insurgents.
“On the night of Sunday, some gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram stormed the house of the Chief Imam of Kaga LGA Imam, Goni Muktar and killed him.

“One of the vigilantes on duty was forcefully taken away by the attackers. This is the second chief imam that was killed in Kaga within two months,” he said.
According to the Civilian JTF, the root cause of the incident could not be immediately ascertained, but the late imam would be buried today.
