Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram fighters have killed two construction workers and kidnapped three grasshopper hunters at Kukareta village along Maiduguri Road in Damaturu LGA of Yobe State.

The terrorists attacked the town on Sunday around 3:00 am shooting sporadically for about one hour before they kidnapped three persons who came to the town to hunt for grasshoppers.

The district head of the town, Alhaji Lawan Babagana told Daily Trust’s reporter via a telephone conversation that the terrorists razed his house, 504 Peugeot car; killed two and kidnapped three people he was hosting.

“They stormed the town around 3 am on Sunday shooting sporadically, they set my house on fire, razed my 504 Peugeot car, and also destroyed one house in the town.

“There were five people in my house who I was hosting; two of them were construction workers brought by the Northeast Development Commission from Adamawa, for the construction of Kukareta Market.

“As you know, as a traditional ruler, I used to host people that come to my domain. These boys (Boko Haram fighters) brought these (workers) out of my house and shot them instantly.

“There are three grasshopper hunters, who I was hosting in my house. They (terrorists) handcuffed, and kidnapped the hunters in the vehicle of vigilantes, which was parked at my house.

“The police operatives have evacuated the remains of the construction workers and taken them to a specialist hospital in Damaturu,” he added.
