Boko Haram IED kills 21 mourners in Yobe

At least 21 mourners, mostly children and women, when killed when a tricycle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State.

Daily Trust gathered that the bomb exploded in Goni in Mittiri village near Gumsa town in Geidam local government area of the State, on Tuesday, killing 18 persons instantly.

Some tax payers were killed earlier this week while 21 lost their lives after attending the burial of the tax payers.

“18 persons, mostly children and women died instantly while 3 died at General Hospital in Geidam when they were receiving medical treatment.

“Recently they (Boko Haram) have increased their attacks on civilians, farmers and herders,” a source said

Another source said, “So far 21 persons have been confirmed dead while four people with minor injuries were left in the village.

“The Jega tricycle was loaded with over 30 people who were picked-up to return them to their villages.”

Confirming the incident, the public relation officer of Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkareem, said 20 persons had been confirmed dead in Monday attack.
