The Bogoro Local Government Council of Bauchi State has distributed 100 wheelchairs to physically challenged persons in the area to alleviate their transportation challenges.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony in Bogoro, Chairman of the Council, Iliya Habila, said the gesture was in collaboration with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Beautiful Gate Handicapped Centre.
Habila expressed his determination to come up with more social welfare programmes that will ameliorate the hardship faced by the less privileged citizens of the local government.
“These are the best gifts ahead of the Easter celebration and they are very timely as they will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the physically challenged.
“I assure my citizens that the council will soon roll out more skills acquisition training and other empowerment programmes for the physically challenged people,” Habila said
Earlier in his remark, the founder of the NGO, Mr Gufwan thanked Bogoro Local Government Council for partnering with his organization and appealed to all tiers of government to support the physically challenged members of the society.
