Families of victims of a boat mishap in Itas Gadau Local Government Area have received N2 million donated by the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed.
The victims died when a canoe, they were travelling in capsized inside River Buji recently.
The council’s Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigari, when he distributed the money to the families, said each person would receive N100,000.
He said the money was assistance to alleviate their sufferings and advised them to take the incident as an act of God.
A beneficiary, Mallam Magaji Gwaram, thanked the governor for the assistance.
Eighteen people, including two nursing mothers, died in the incident.
