Ten persons have died in a canoe mishap that occurred on Monday in Jega local government area of Kebbi state, Daily Trust learnt.
Checks revealed that the deceased were women going for a wedding from Madauci to Tungan Gehuru village.

The canoe was said to have capsized around 4 pm on Monday while carrying 10 passengers.

Speaking to Daily Trust on phone, the council chairman, Barrister Shehu Marshal, confirmed the incident saying four lifeless body of the victims had since been recovered.
“Four dead bodies were recovered and they have since been buried. Rescue mission is on progress searching for the remaining six persons” Marshal said.
