Board inducts 900 health records officers

Supervising Minister of Health, Dr Khaliru Alhassan, who was represented at the induction by the head of dentistry in the ministry, Dr Bimpe Adebiyi, noted that health information managers were crucial in the actualisation of the health targets of the government’s transformation agenda.
He said as the gateway way to health, record officers chronicle the implementation of the National Strategic Health Development Plan right from the health facility attendance by patients, investigations, diagnosis and management of cases, especially data collection, storage and retrieval.
Chairman of the board, Hon. Ibrahim Jubrin Sokoto, stated that the profession has suffered identity crises in the health sector for a very long time, stressing that the days they served as card issuers were gone.
Registrar of the board Mohammed Ibrahim Mami, appealed to the minister to facilitate the publication of an official gazette of the inclusion of Higher National Diploma (HND) health information management in the scheme of service of the federation for recognition and by employers of labour.
