Blue Stream Education boss hails Tinubu’s student loan policy

The Managing Director of Blue Stream Educational Limited, Mallam Abdulkareem Ogirima, has commended the Student Loan policy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

He disclosed this at a press briefing at the annual education fair organised by Blue Stream Education Consult in collaboration with some top Turkish universities in Abuja at the weekend.

Ogirima said, if well articulated, the policy would go a long way in improving access to education by Nigerians just as it is done in The UK and the US.

“For us in Nigeria, we are just starting but at least, we know now that the government is talking about student loans and we can have a conceptualization of what this student loan should be like but what Nigeria’s own will be like is what we don’t know yet.

“But it’s a step in the right direction in terms of wanting to assist our educational system,” he said.

He said the policy is in line with the activities of his company which helps students to achieve their goals in terms of placement abroad, educational support, counseling and getting them the opportunities available and help them achieve their dreams.

“We understand the challenges that the students face in today’s competitive educational landscape and we are committed to providing them with the support that they need to achieve their goals.

“In the past years, we have helped over a thousand students in their studies within and outside the country.

“We also help students to improve their test scores in terms of what they require to study abroad,” Ogirima said.

He said the company has a strong footing in Turkey where it partners with many top universities including Sabanci University and Isik University.

Ogirima said the fair was to allow students to write tests for scholarship placements in Turkish, the United Kingdom and other universities across the world.

“We are doing this to give back to society. We need to support the government. It’s not for the government alone, the private sector has to come in to support the government in one way or the other.

According to him, 221 students across the country registered for the examination but only 30 would be picked for the second round of examination where five top students will get full scholarships and others will receive financial assistants to undertake their studies.

He also said the schools have scholarships of up to 70% tuition fees available for outstanding students.
