The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has assured residents of Bayelsa State that power will be restored to the state following weeks of blackout occasioned by an accident that vandalized electrical installations in Yenagoa.
TCN’s Station Manager for the Gbarain Substation, Engr Richard Amadi, told journalists on Tuesday that the incident that disrupted power supply to most parts of the state occurred on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at about 11pm when a vehicle ran into one of the electric poles that dragged down so many high-tension wires.
He said, “Our crew is working on it and they have taken an estimate of what happened until they conclude their investigation, we will not be able to know the cost.”
He further said that as soon as they finished working on it, power would be restored, but could not give a specific day.
