Poet of the Week: Black; Shades and Shadows

I am black as pitch

I am the black in pitch

Black as the palm of my hand

SPONSOR AD

Black as a world through closed eyelids

The cure in charcoal

The veil over the sky that shut out the lightning

Hated and misunderstood

I am enigma

The sight when the sun shuts its eye

And lightnings scream a faint echo

Keeper of secrets only I am witness to

The unborn s memory forgotten at birth

I am black as the depth of the sea

I am the black at the depth of the sea

I am starless nights

Unique a perspective as the mind’s eye of the blind

I am eternity before there was light

And all that remains when it fades

I am deep and dreamless sleep

I am enigma

The imaginations playground

Unattainable distance at the edge of the universe

Home to all things nocturnal

The pilgrim’s moment of clarity

I am black as the shadow of fear

I am the black in the shadow of fear

Personification of a presence in the subconscious

A truth that cannot be denied

I am silence when the wind holds it breath

Saddened at the earth drained of blood

I am history of ancestors I never knew

I am enigma

I am a box of surprising mysteries

I am change that dictates change

I am all things they say I am and more

And more….no word can define.
