Thanks to all those that contributed to the above titled article of page 28 of Sunday, 20/09/20 edition.

The late Emir of Biu, Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu, was a father not only to his biological children, the people of Biu Emirate, but to all the Babur/Bura Nation worldwide.

He really earned the love, trust, admiration and respect of the people. His humility, simplicity and respect for the common man  was second to none.

The role he played in maintaining peace and security in the troubled Northeast and in bringing religious harmony between the Moslems and Christians is worthy of emulation.

All ethnic groups residing in Biu have their tribal leaders who are well received in the palace. He gave traditional titles to people of all parts, districts, villages and communities regardless of their religious beliefs.

Biu transformed from a town into a city during the Boko Haram insurgency time. Thanks to the security provided to the people. This occurred at a time when most parts of Borno were occupied, the people fled and became refugees across the country. At present, a plot of land in Biu is more expensive than in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Now that Mai Umar is succeeded by His son, Mai Mustapha 2nd, we shall continue to remember the departed father through him; hoping that HRH will add to the good work of his father.
