Bishops, Imams endorse Ayom for president, ask Tinubu, Atiku for support

Christian and Muslim Clergies from the Northcentral region, on Thursday, endorsed Chief Moses Ayom, to run for the office of Nigeria’s president in the 2023 election.

Daily Trust reports that the clergies made their position known when they accompanied Ayom, an indigene of Benue State, to visit the President-General of Mdzough U Tiv, retired CP, Iorbee Ihagh, at his residence in Makurdi.

“We have come to a logical conclusion that Moses Ayom is the candidate Nigeria needs at this critical moment of sustainable change.

“It is with immense pleasure that we the entire Middle Belt Imams endorse our very own Chief Moses Ayom.

“We have identified Chief Ayom as a credible aspirant for the forthcoming Presidential elections in 2023,” he said.

Salisu further called on some of the revered fathers of political parties in the country, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar and former senate president Bukola Saraki to support the Ayom project and take the reserved seat of fathers and advisers.

Similarly, Archbishop Edward William who led other Christian clergies from the North Central states, assured that they were standing with Ayom as a credible presidential candidate for the purpose of equity.

“We are hereby soliciting the support of our well-meaning brothers from the Middle Belt…to all throw their weight and let us support this illustrious son from the Middle Belt in the pursuit of this worth and patriotic call,” he added.

On his part, Ayom, who is the owner of the popular Granite and Marble Ltd, the Renewable energy Ketti Green Smart City, Cherry wood group, Bay Dorchester, among others, said he decided to aspire for the country’s foremost position after he was overwhelmed by calls from all sides of the country to contest the presidential election.

Ayom said; “as a businessman, I know what we need to make the country economy grow.

“I will use the experiences I have to better Nigeria.

“If I become President, there would be no unemployment. As president of Nigeria, I will drive an Innoson vehicle. I will create free trade zones.”

Responding, the Mdzough U Tiv, President General, CP Ihagh, said though as a socio-cultural body of the Tiv people worldwide, the organisation is not partisan, however, he gave his blessing to the presidential aspirant to enable him to succeed in his bid to govern Nigeria.
