The ongoing biometric verification exercise for the payment of the monthly allowance of corps members in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has eased off following the procurement of 20 capturing machines.
City News had on Monday reported that a number of corps members were injured in a stampede last Friday at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) FCT Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja.
The Assistant Director, Public Relations, NYSC FCT, Mrs. Lucia-ann Laha, who confirmed the procurement of the machines in a chat with our reporter, said over 300 corps members had already been captured.
When our reporter visited the venue of the exercise yesterday, some corps members expressed joy at the level of ease being experienced in the course of registration.
They, however, said the injuries earlier recorded could have been averted if enough machines had been procured before embarking on the exercise
