The Governing Council of Bingham University has appointed Mr Daburi Bello Misal as Registrar and Dr Joshua Magoi as university librarian.
This followed the recommendation of the Joint Council/Senate Committee for the appointment of the Registrar and University Librarian, according to a statement from the varsity.
Mr Misal and Dr Magoi are expected to take over from Dr (Mrs) Esther J. Dyaji and Associate Prof. Dan Ajibili, respectively, whose tenures will expire on July 19, 2024.
The statement said Mr Misal is a seasoned university administrator with over 18 years’ experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Jos and a Master of Science degree in Mass Communication from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos.
“He started his working career at Bingham University in 2006 as an administrative officer and rose through the ranks to attain the rank of deputy registrar.
He has served in various units and divisions of the registry and is currently the substantive director, Directorate of Public Affairs.
In 2022, Misal was awarded the Vice Chancellor`s Excellent Service award in recognition of his outstanding service to the university.
The statement said Dr Joshua Magoi brings a wealth of experience and expertise as the University Librarian, having previously served as Deputy University Librarian (Associate Professor) at Kaduna State University.
“In his previous role, Dr Magoi was instrumental in managing and administering the university library system and services, providing leadership and guidance in the development of the library’s resources and operations,” the statement reads.
Dr Magoi holds a Diploma in Library Science (DLS) from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), a Bachelor of Library Science (BLS) and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid), a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Bayero University Kano (BUK), and a PhD from the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
