Bike ‘thief’ burnt to death in Benue

A mob on Tuesday burnt to death a man suspected to have stolen a motorcycle in Otukpo LGA of Benue State.

A witness said, “They made him walk around naked with the stolen motorcycle before they descended on him, set him ablaze and he burnt to ashes.”

The witness further explained that the suspect allegedly killed a commercial motorcyclist around Adoka Street in Otukpo a few weeks ago after overpowering the victim, dispossessing him of a new bike.

It was also gathered that the suspect was caught with the same stolen bike early hours of Tuesday and that he confessed to have killed the owner before taking possession.

Contacted, spokeswoman of the police in the state, SP Catherine Anene, said she was not aware of the incident.
