Bichi’s seat vacant at education ministry, two years after

Strong indications have emerged from the ministry of education in Abuja that the vacant seat previously held by former Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund); Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi at the office of the minister hasn’t been filled.

Bichi, who was a lecturer with Bayero University, Kano, served as special assistant to Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu between 2015 and 2016 before being appointed as executive secretary of the fund, leaving the position vacant.

He replaced Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro at TetFund.

However, in a new twist on Monday, the minister issued a statement re-instating Bogoro to his position, two years after.

Bichi, who was expected to give control of the fund to Bogoro later today, hasn’t reclaimed his vacant seat at the ministry.

A senior official said the minister hasn’t appointed any person to fill the vacant position left by Bichi in 2016 and it wasn’t also clear if he would be re-appointed to it or be given any new position.
