Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operator of the Muritala Muhammed Airport 2, has refuted claims that there are cracks on some pillars at the parking lot of the MMA 2 terminal.

BASL in a statement issued yesterday said there are no safety issues at its facility and that there are no cracked pillars at the parking lot of the terminal.

Group Corporate Affairs Manager, BASL, Mikail Mumuni said: “The person who posted the picture is obviously not well informed. This is an expansion joint and not a crack.

“The expansion joint is a space provided in every substantial structure that enables the building or structure to breathe.”

He explained that there are similar expansion joints found on bridges across the country adding that MMA2 carries out integrity tests regularly on its structure.

A Twitter user had taken to his handle to draw the attention of the authorities to a crack he spotted on one of the pillars at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos state.
