Benue’ll sustain support to security agencies against regrouping insurgents — Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom on Saturday assured of his administration commitment to sustain support to security agencies as they tackle regrouping of insurgents on the Benue and Nasarawa states border.

Ortom gave the assurance in response to the media reports credited to his Nasarawa counterpart who told newsmen in Abuja that the insurgents – Boko Haram – were regrouping in the border areas of both states.

Speaking through his spokesman, the Governor recalled that he alerted the nation a long time ago about the agenda of the insurgents, adding that whether they are armed herders or Boko Haram, the target remained the same – to take over the land.

“The State Government has been proactive on the issue and will sustain its collaboration and support to security agencies to guarantee the safety of the people.

“The Benue State Security Council is to meet next week on the issue of the influx of armed herders. Their target will always be Benue State even as they are now assembling in Nasarawa State,” he said.
