Benue to crack down on illegal parks

The Benue state government has established an enforcement committee aimed at imposing strict measures on unauthorised operators in a move to curb the activities of illegal motor parks, especially within Makurdi, the state capital.

Principal Special Assistant (PSA) to the Governor on Commercial Transportation and Monitoring, Yusuf Elaigwu Suleiman, announced the formation of the committee yesterday shortly after a meeting with stakeholders from the transport sector.

Suleiman expressed concern over the growing number of illegal motor parks in Makurdi, describing the situation as unacceptable.

He noted that these unauthorised parks contribute to unnecessary traffic congestion in the state capital, a problem the committee would be determined to address.
