The Executive Chairman of Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Grace Adagba, has called on stakeholders in education to ensure every child has the needed support to manage menstrual health hygiene.

A statement by the Information Officer, Benue SUBEB, Akese Emmanuella, quoted Adagba as speaking Tuesday in Makurdi, at an advocacy campaign organized for 100 girls selected from ten schools to mark the World Menstrual Hygiene Day.

The SUBEB Boss, represented by the Board Secretary, Dr Joseph Jande, who presented menstrual kits to each of the students, said it was a shared responsibility of all stakeholders to support the girl child to overcome the stigma associated with menstruation.

She reiterated Governor Hyacinth Alia’s commitment in creating a supportive and inclusive environment through sharing accurate information in ensuring cultural shift from stigmatization to open dialogue for womanhood.

Director, Social Mobilization, SUBEB, Mrs Erdoo Sar, said the event was put together to educate and empower the students with accurate information to manage their menstrual health and boost their confidence in schools.
