Soldiers, at about 12 noon, averted violence in Okwungaga polling unit at Ugbokolo town of Okpokwu LGA of Benue State.
Our correspondent reports that voting was going on smoothly when some persons invaded the ground to disrupt the exercise.
The invaders were promptly resisted by the youths of the community in the voting arena, a situation which caused a momentary disorder.
But soldiers patrolling the area were immediately alerted to calm the situation as they took charge by dispersing the trouble makers.
The voting continued peacefully at the polling unit even with an impressive turnout.
