Benue records 7 sexual abuses in IDP camps

At least seven cases of sexual abuse have been reported within one month in two Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Benue State.

Our correspondent reports that a reported case of child marriage was also recorded in one out of the many IDP camps in the state.

The cases were brought to the fore on Thursday by Sexual Offences Awareness and Response (SOAR) Initiative during a one-day meeting of the Benue State Child’s Right Implementation Committee (SCRIC) chaired by the state Ministry of Women Affairs.

SOAR’s Chibuxor Njoku, disclosed a reported case of child marriage in Gbajimba IDP camp one in Guma Local Government Area where a case of minors rape were also reported.
