Benue pledges support for digital hub initiative

The deputy governor of Benue State, Sam Ode, a lawyer, has reiterated the state government’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment for investors and development partners interested in investing in the state.

This assurance was given during a meeting between the implementation committee for the newly established Benue Digital Infrastructure Company Limited (BDICL) and project stakeholders.

Speaking at the meeting held at the Government House, Makurdi, Ode emphasised the importance of eliminating bureaucratic obstacles that hinder ease of doing business. He assured stakeholders that the Benue State Government was fully committed to transparency and efficiency in its engagements.

“The present administration in Benue State has attracted a significant number of international developers and partners due to our compliance with the ease of doing business index. We are dedicated to ensuring that everything is conducted transparently,” he said.

 In his remarks, the project consultant, Terwase Gbande, said the selection of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) as the financial institution for the project is due to its capability and willingness to support the state government’s vision.

The consortium, led by Africa Data Centres, plans to establish various digital infrastructures in Benue State, projecting significant revenue generation and economic growth opportunities.

Yusuf Kabir, representing the UBA, expressed the bank’s commitment to providing unwavering financial support for the project.

 Following the meeting, the implementation committee, accompanied by key government officials, conducted an inspection tour of the Benue State Library facility in Wurukum, Makurdi, slated to serve as the takeoff site for the Benue digital hub.
