The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has been declared winner of the election conducted in all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Richard Tombowua, announced the results of the election at exactly 9:16am, on Sunday.
Tombowua also declared the APC winner of all councillorship seats in 276 council wards across the state, leaving none for other parties.
He said although a total of eight political parties participated in the exercise, only five were active.
They are All Progressives Congress (APC), Action Alliance Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Both the APC and PDP went into the elections amid internal crises.
However, the BSIEC followed directives from the parties’ apex leadership in accepting the lists of candidates who participated in the polls.
The BSIEC chairman praised the conduct of the elections, saying it was free, fair and credible without any issues.
He added that it was the best ever local government exercise carried out in the history of the state.
Tombowua asked the winners should come to the commission’s headquarters at 2pm on Sunday for their certificate of return.
