A former senator from Benue State, Senator Joseph Waku has called on the federal government to take drastic measures against the recent killing of more than 50 people in different Benue communities.
Speaking on the phone, he told Daily Trust that federal government should collaborate with Benue government, the Fulani leadership, farmers and all stakeholders to bring peace to Benue.
"It is high time the federal government pays special attention to the issue of Benue State. We have been battling this problem. It should be treated like the Boko Haram terrorists issue. It has gone beyond herdsmen now. It is the duty of the federal government to protect lives and properties,” he said.
"From the reports I received, my community has been sacked. Their farm produce, houses and other properties have been destroyed and the perpetrators have not been arrested up till this moment. I think this is not being done by the Fulanis that we know.”
