A new Commissioner of Police (CP), George Chuku, has assumed duty as the 40th CP in the Benue State command.
Chuku, who hails from Obio-Akpor LGA of Rivers State, holds a BSc in sociology from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and an LLB from the University of Calabar (Unical) and was called to the bar in 2003.
Spokeswoman of the command, SP Catherine Anene, in a statement at the weekend, noted that the CP was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on March 3, 1990, as a cadet assistant superintendent of police and served in Yobe, Delta and Cross River states in operational, investigative and administrative capacities.
She added that Chuku served as an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-Administration, Akwa Ibom State; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Operations, Zone 3, Yola; Director, Legal, Police Staff College, Jos; and DCP in charge of Operations, Ebonyi State.

He was promoted to the rank of CP on March 9, 2022, and posted to Force Headquarters, Abuja, as CP Administration and Chairman Public-Private Partnership (PPP), from where he was moved to the Force CID and served as CP of Special Enquiry Bureau.
