The Benue State government has expended a total of N25 million on automobile training for 50 youths drawn from various local government areas.

Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (BSLGCA), Barrister Ken Achabo, disclosed this in Makurdi.

Achabo said: “We paid for two persons from each of the 23 local governments in the state for the training at Innoson Motors in Nnewi, Anambara State.

“They are altogether 50 youths; two from each of the local governments and four extra. They will come back at the end of the training to set up automobile workshops in the state and train others.”

He explained that the state government would open several automobile workshops for the trainees on completion of their training to enable them to train other youths in the state to become self-reliant.

The special adviser also said the state government has bought vehicles at the cost of about N1billion for traditional rulers in the state.

“Benue has about 2000 traditional rulers on the government’s payroll,” the special adviser added.
