A former Deputy Governor of Benue State, Chief Steven Lawani, has emerged the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Benue South Senatorial district.
Lawani won the keenly contested primaries on Thursday at Apa gate hotel in Otukpo, the venue for the APC Benue South senatorial primaries which actually started on Wednesday.
The returning officer of the exercise, Alhaji Abubakar Maru, who announced the results at about 3:09pm, noted that, Lawani scored 1,321 votes to defeat Comrade Daniel Onjeh who polled 1,059 votes while Dr Andrew Egboja had 21 votes.
Similarly, a female contender, Mrs Mimi Adzape-Orubibi won the APC ticket for Benue north east district.
Adzape-Orubibi polled 1,391 to beat Mathias Byuan who scored 279 votes and Vandefan James with 28 votes, B.B Nungwa 26 votes as well as Terwase Tsumbu who got 22 votes.
