The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Makurdi in Benue State on Monday discharged one case of COVID-19 from its isolation center at Apir.
The patient, Edward Faasema Manger, an officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), resident in Kano State but visited his home in Benue was the second reported case of Coronavirus in the state as confirmed by Governor Samuel Ortom on May 5, this year.
Manger became the second victim of the virus barely one month after the state recorded its index case of a woman who returned from the United Kingdom and tested positive for Convid-19 on March 28, 2020.
A statement by the Personal Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to the Medical Director of FMC, Gongor Samuel, indicated that Manger was admitted at the FMC Isolation Centre in Apir on May 4, 2020, having tested positive for COVID -19.
“Manger expressed appreciation to the Medical Director of FMC Makurdi, management and all frontline workers on COVID-19 in the hospital for exhibiting high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
“He particularly remain greatful to Dr. Peteru Inunduh who always visit and call him, only to make sure he is comfortable and properly taken care of by the medical team throughout his 14 days in Isolation,” the statement reads.
Inunduh further reassured the public that the FMC, Makurdi is always prepared in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the state even as he reiterated his commitment and determination in establishing COVID-19 testing laboratory in the hospital.
Similarly, The Benue State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Sunday Ongbabo expressed joy and happiness over the successful discharge of the case from the isolation centre of the hospital.
