The Benue State House of Assembly on Monday evening suspended four members for allegedly constituting a clog to the smooth running of its legislative business.
The affected members include Solomon Gyila (Gwer West Constituency), Douglas Akya (Makurdi South Constituency) Dyako Ashwa (Konshisha Constituency) and Anthony Agom (Okpokwu Constituency).
They were suspended for three months following a motion by the Majority Leader of the House, Saater Tiseer and seconded by Peter Ipusu of Katsina-Ala West State Constituency.
In another development, the House confirmed Governor Hyacinth Alia’s nominees for the local government councils’ caretaker committees.

Speaker of the House, Aondona Dajoh, had put the confirmation to a voice vote after which 21 nominees secured their confirmation.
Two nominees for Agatu and Oju local governments were rejected.
Daily Trust could not immediately ascertain the reason for their rejection.
The House asked the governor to forward a replacement for the rejected nominees.
