Traditional rulers comprising edionweres, ohens, enigies and youths from  Ovia North East and South West LGAs of Edo State yesterday protested what they described as alleged  fresh attacks on their communities by Ijaw settlers over the installation of Ijaw king and ownership of Geegele community.

Addressing journalists, the Enogie of Iguogie, Festus  Osagiede  and the Ohen-Osa of Ughoton,  Priest  Edokpagbe, said the Ijaw who were settlers had severally attacked their people including women and children over the refusal of the binis  to allow the panned installation of Pere of Olodiama  kingdom at Gelegele in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.

The duo alleged that Ijaw settlers with militants suspected to have been working for Mr Godwin Oguyenbo.(PERE of Oodioama) had prevented  the Okao appointed by Omo N’Oba to oversee Gelegele from erecting a building in Gelegele village

The protesters said the development was an affront to the Benin native laws and customs, saying that the position of Pere had never existed in Benin kingdom.
