Bello, Jemibewon, others eulogise late Gen. Abisoye

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and other top personalities at the weekend paid glowing tributes to the late Retired Major General Emmanuel Olumuyiwa Abisoye for his contributions to the development of his Ogori community and Nigeria as a whole during his life time.

Bello, who spoke on the occasion of an inter-denominational memorial service held at the Ogori country home of the late Gen. Abisoye who died on March 17, 2017 at the age of 81, described the late senior military officer as a “great statesman” whose good legacies would continue to be remembered for a long time to come.

He particularly lauded the late Abisoye for attracting the first asphalt road to his country home; provision of potable water for the community and facilitating employment opportunities for many graduates from the area, amongst others.

Bello, therefore appealed to the Nigerian Army high command to immortalize the late Abisoye by naming one of its Infantry Divisions after him to keep his memory alive.

A former Military Governor of the old Oyo State and former Minister of Police Affairs, Retired Gen David Jemibewon who worked closely with the late Abisoye during their days in the Army, described the deceased as a “very descent and reliable officer” who would do justice on any matter.

He said the late Gen Abisoye played a prominent role in the success he (Jemibewon) achieved as the Military Governor of the then old Oyo State.
