Religious leaders have been called upon to express support for the on-going fight against corruption by highlighting its ills in their preaching and sermons.
The FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, gave the charge when a delegation of the Union of African Muslim Scholars paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.
He noted that as part of the strategies to salvage the country from the ills that bedeviled it in the past, the present Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, identified three key areas: security of lives and property, ending the scourge of corruption and strengthening the economy which he believes must be tackled in order to get the country back on track.
The chairman of the Union of African Muslim Scholars, Dr. Muhammad Ahmad Loh from Senegal, called for closer working relationship between government and the ulama in the fight against corruption, adding that the union is also working towards addressing the menace of extremism and radicalisation in the African continent.
