A 45-year-old man, Wasiu Bola, who claimed to be a beggar, has been arrested by men of the FCT police command for defrauding a victim of the sum of N800, 000 in Abuja.

The police commissioner in FCT, CP Sunday Babaji, who disclosed this to newsmen while parading the suspect at the command headquarters in Abuja yesterday, said the suspect was arrested by detectives of the command’s anti-violent crimes team.

He said the suspect fraudulently obtained money from his victims under the guise of fortune telling, which amounted to N800, 000.

He said the suspect was arrested at Area 1 axis of Abuja, adding that the suspect who has confessed to the crime will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.

He also disclosed that a 25-year-old man, David Friday, was arrested by the command’s anti-car theft, saying the suspect conspired with his accomplice, Moses Benjamin, to steal a car at Gosa market, along Airport road, Abuja.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the car belongs to his employer and the suspect fabricated a spare key of the vehicle which he handed over to his accomplice to steal the said car from where it was parked,” he said.

The police commissioner said the vehicle had been recovered, adding that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
