The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, has urged the troops fighting insurgency to be at alert and maintain lives of sacrifice to enable the armed forces tackle the insecurity bedevilling the country.
General Farouk, who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major-General Andrew Omozoje, gave the charge Saturday during a joint Sallah luncheon organised for frontline troops and paramilitary in Maiduguri.

He reiterated his readiness to improve the welfare packages of troops and their families, especially those who require urgent health care services, assuring that they would be given attention, both locally and abroad if need be.
“Sallah provides a unique opportunity for us to reflect and pray for the grace of the Almighty Allah to defeat all detractors and bring lasting peace to our fatherland. I urge you to maintain a high sense of professionalism, patriotism and be spiritually upright in all your undertakings.
“I am passionate to provide high standard health care services to those who get wounded in action, both locally and abroad, especially to provide empowerment supports to be able to integrate into the society. Welfare will help them to overcome post traumatic stress,” he assured.
The Chief of Policy and Plans, Nigeria Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Charles Ohwo, thanked the frontline troops for their sacrifice and promised that the military would not rest until insecurity is over.
