The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya, has tasked newly recruited soldiers to brace up for the coming general elections as they would be fully utilised to enhance security of the country’s electoral processes.
He disclosed this at the passing out parade of the 83 regular intakes at Chindits Barracks in Zaria.
Yahaya said the 6,226 recruited soldiers would be posted to various theatres of operation to tame persistent insecurity bedeviling some parts of the country, while others would participate in the 2023 general elections.

He, however, tasked the recruits to remain apolitical in their dealings as 2023 elections approach.
“I urge some of you who may participate in the forthcoming general elections to remain apolitical and adhere sensibly and strictly to the codes of conduct, principles of human rights and rules of engagement,” he said.
