The premiere of one of the most anticipated television reality show in Africa, Big Brother Titans has finally begun as several candidates have been introduced into the house. Unlike other Big Brother reality TV shows, BB Titans have a twist as its contestants are only Nigerians and South Africans.

The reality show which commenced on Sunday, 15th of January was hosted by no other than Ebuka Obi Uchendu, the host of Big Brother Naija, alongside a South African media personality, Lawrence Maleka.

Although Lawrence’s full identity wasn’t revealed during the premiere of the show, he is popularly known in South Africa.

Things to Know about Lawrence Maleka.

  • Lawrence Maleka was born on April 11, 1990 in Soweto where he also grew up alongside his siblings. He is the youngest in a family of three children. He has an elder brother and a sister. He grew up in the streets of Soweto, which is a township he has since loved with all his heart. He gives credit for all the achievements to the hard life of Soweto.

  • He is a well-known South African TV host, and presenter. He attained enormous recognition for hosting the Mzansi Magic competition which is a South African reality show, also referred to as Clash of the Choirs South Africa. The show is a singing competition based on the international format devised by Swedish singer Caroline af Ugglas and produced locally by Endemol in South Africa. It features amateur choirs from seven different provinces, mentored by celebrity musicians, competing for a prize. Asides from being a Television host, Lawrence Maleka is also an actor, he has featured in several South African television series, including; The River (2021-2022), Isibaya (2015-2016), The final cut(2017), and a few others.

 

  • The media personality got his break in 2009 when he anchored the role of the Gadget Show’s presenter on Soweto TV, having been motivated by South African actress, Lerato Kganyago to audition. After that, he went on to host other shows for the same station such as Street Radio and Ziyamporomo. Lawrence also replaced Fezile Makhanya in May 2015 as the host of the Lotto Powerball lottery game on e.tv. In 2015, Lawrence also got the lifetime opportunity of replacing Bonang Matheba as host of Clash of the Choirs South Africa, a Mzansi Magic reality competition series.

 

  • Lawrence is married to Zenokhule Maseko, a South African actress, model, and screen diva. She is known for her part in the film The River which she was portrayed as Mbali. Maseko was born on 2nd February 1998 in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa where she experienced her youth life, she is one lady that could be characterized as fortunate to be married to Maleka, as the media personality learned how to love and care for the women in his life from his father, whom he adulated.
