In a bid to realise the Operation Clean up Bayelsa campaign, the state government is to set up a waste recycling plant to turn waste to wealth.
Governor Seriake Dickson, who disclosed this at the weekend while inaugurating the new nine-member Environmental Sanitation Authority, charged the members to establish a modern refuse disposal system.
He tasked the new leadership of the authority to make a difference in keeping the state, particularly the state capital, Yenagoa, clean urging members to put in place a transparent and foolproof accounting system and revenue collection mechanism.
The governor also directed the authority to make monthly reports of revenue generated to the government, noting that its operations were expected to be a clear departure from what obtained in the past, where the authority engaged unknown agents deploying what he described as brutal and primitive means of revenue collection.
