Bayelsa Queens have emerged winner of the 2019 Nigeria Women Premier League Champions (NWPL) Shield played yesterday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
The Queens from Bayelsa defeated Rivers Angels 2-0 in the regulation time to secure the victory for the first time.
Igwe Uzoamaka spotting jersey number 13 scored the first goal for Bayelsa Queens in the 43rd minute from a free-kick before Lucky Odiri made it two for the home side in the 75th minute.
Bayelsa Queens won the Nigeria Women Premier League for the first time in 2018 since 2006 and 2007 after winning it back to back, while Rivers Angels won their eighth AITEO Cup title beating Ibom Angels in 2018.
