The Bayelsa State Oil and Environmental Commission will meet with international oil companies in Yenagoa today and tomorrow.
An interim report will also be presented to Governor of Bayelsa State Seriake Dickson by the commission at the weekend.
The interim report, which will be presented by the commission chair, the Archbishop of York, John Setamu, outlines what the commission has seen and heard over the last seven months and will be available to the public on Friday. The commission will also make a public announcement to communities and the media in Bayelsa.
The report documents the widespread environmental and human damage which is occurring as a result of international oil companies’ operations in the state.
