Sylva has been the Minister of State for Petroleum since August 2019, the second term of Buhari.

The former minister was expected to vacate office by May 29 when Buhari and other cabinet members leave for a new administration.

There were unconfirmed reports that the former minister turned in his resignation letter to the president on Thursday. However, the post by Buhari’s social media aide on Friday afternoon has put to rest the speculations.
