The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has resigned from his appointment.
A tweet by Bashir Ahmad, the social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, revealed that the former Bayelsa State governor resigned to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election.
The Bayelsa gubernatorial primary election is slated to hold by April end, about 30 days from now.
Sylva has been the Minister of State for Petroleum since August 2019, the second term of Buhari.
