The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended its campaigns in Bayelsa State following the involvement of its campaign team in a boat mishap.
The incident happened when the party’s campaign team was returning from Ogbia LGA after their campaign outing.
In a statement Thursday, the APC Chairman in the state, Dr. Dennis Otiotio, said the party has informed relevant authorities to launch a search to rescue the missing persons.
According to the statement, the incident caused the disappearance of a yet-to-be-identified ranking member of the party’s campaign council.

The statement reads in part, “The Bayelsa State APC governorship campaign council wishes to announce the suspension of our campaigns billed to be held tomorrow 26 October 2023 at Nembe-Ogbolomabiri and Nembe-Bassambiri.
“This is due to an unfortunate boat mishap during our campaigns today. At the moment, a ranking member of staff of our campaign council is yet to be accounted for. We have informed relevant authorities and search parties are on top of the situation.
“We will take a day’s break to evaluate the situation before we resume our campaigns on Friday at Nembe Ogbolomabiri and Nembe Bassambiri before heading to Brass LGA on Saturday and Sunday to conclude the Bayelsa East campaigns.”
