Confirming the incident, the president of Creek Youths Agenda (CYA) in the community, Ouseibai Seperegha, condemned the destruction, theft and vandalism of the electricity facility.
Mr Seperegha said, “It is very sad and unfortunate that young people were caught vandalising our electric infrastructure with the aim of making money. It is more worrisome, especially now that we are agitating for more development of the creeks considering their neglect developmentally over the years.
“I feel pained that young people who ought to protect our facilities in the creeks are the ones perpetrating such acts of destruction.
“Therefore, I urge those with such criminal minds to desist from such and engage themselves in productive ventures that will add value to our creeks and the society at large or they should be ready to face the full wrath of the law when apprehended.”
When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, said he would find out from the divisional police officer (DPO) in charge of Sagbama and get back to our correspondent.
