Bauchi women under the aegis of Coalition for Sustainable Peace and Viable Democratic Gains have appealed to the state governorship elections petition tribunal to be just and fair in its judgement on the March 18 governorship election in the state.
Members of the group made the appeal during a peaceful rally with placards with different inscriptions such as ‘Injustice will destroy democracy’, ‘Let justice prevail,’ ‘We must not allow bribery and corruption’ among others from Tashan Babiye, to Wunti, via Gidan Mai.
Speaking with newsmen during the rally, the Publicity Secretary, Fatima Umar said, “As people of the state await the verdict, we came out to appeal to the tribunal to ensure that justice and fairness take centre stage.
“Since all facts are before the tribunal, we expect them to be fair and ensure that the true wishes of the people prevail.

“This is not the first time we have done this, we did it during the 2019 case between Bala Mohammed and Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar. Our group marched on the streets and called on the then-election tribunal to be fair and just in giving judgement.”
Recall that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar is challenging the emergence of Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the March 18 poll in the state.
