Bauchi state government is set to improve ways of increasing its Internally Generated Revenue ( IGR).
The newly appointed chairman of the state revenue agency, Bauchi Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) , Hussaini Jibrin Jibo stated this at a press briefing in Bauchi Tuesday.
He said the move became necessary as states faced challenges of dwindling federal allocation for a long time because of the economic recession which Nigeria faced in the last two years.
According to him, the challenges needed swift and concrete measures to cushion the effects of the recession and enable Bauchi State government to meet its financial obligations and provide basic amenities and interventions.
Jibo said that governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar therefore decided to introduce tax reforms through competent individuals and measures to help in augmenting the revenue flows to the government.
