Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar has disclosed plans to initiate a bill for the creation of new districts and village areas.
A statement by his press secretary, Abubakar Al-Sadique, quoted the governor as disclosing this when he received the report of the committee which reviewed the creation of districts and village areas by the Isah Yuguda administration.
According to the statement, the bill which will be presented to the House of Assembly is part of an effort to increase the involvement of the traditional institution in governance, especially in the area of security.
Governor Abubakar said the committee was given a free hand to carry out the assignment.
It would be recalled that Abubakar constituted the committee to review the exercise following abuse and infractions that led the House of Assembly to dissolve the new districts in early 2015.
The Chairman of the committee, Justice Dahiru Saleh (rtd), said they recommended the creation of 50 new districts and 225 new village areas.
