Bauchi State’s odd kind of governance

It is very funny to read writers in their vain defense of the governor. It won’t work as the good people of Bauchi are already disenchanted with the way things are going in the state. Their disenchantment is almost unanimous. The cry all over is for a change of leadership that will steer the affairs of the state to the benefit of the people.  It is unfortunate that whenever efforts are made by people to bring the attention of the government to its shortcomings, they are called disgruntled elements. Rather than address the issues raised, the administration comes out to say our constructive criticism are obnoxious, demeaning and deceitful. This scenario is always played out whenever an attempt is made to tell the governor the truth.

 Recently Yuguda has come out in support of President Goodluck Jonathan, but on the other hand he seem to be sponsoring hooligans and miscreants to remove all posters of the President and the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, who is aspiring to be governor, in the state. This is the same Yuguda that was not sympathetic to allowing Jonathan to be president as a member of the cabal that held sway when late President Yar’adua was sick.

It is unfortunate that Yuguda is very inconsistent. Nigerian politics should encompass only responsible persons, it shouldn’t be for opportunists like Yuguda that derive their political influence from the likes of Gen. Buhari and others whom they used and dumped. Unfortunately for Yuguda he is from a state that is politically conscious, and as such he is judged on the basis of his performance vis-à-vis his predecessor, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu.

Yuguda has a penchant for declaring his belief in the will of God yet he orchestrated the forceful removal of his former deputy, local government chairmen and Permanent Secretaries in the state. Yuguda is one that shows a high trait of superciliousness and antagonism and this has made him take a confrontational posture with everyone that dares to tell him the truth or aid him with useful advice to help ensure the rebirth of a more vibrant Bauchi State.

 Deep down Governor Yuguda is inept and he has met his better in the intrepid Senator Bala Mohammed. No amount of image laundering by Governor Yuguda will wash away the facts I have just highlighted above. It would also be futile to get writers to continue to cast aspersions on those bold enough to tell his administration the truth, which is that they have let down the people of Bauchi State. The impoverished people of Bauchi State are groaning under his avaricious administration.

The new dawn promised by Yuguda has degenerated into self-centered leadership with little or nothing to show in terms of achievements, developmental projects and all it entails for the people of Bauchi State. Pray, where is the good governance that Yuguda promised us?

The people of Bauchi State are practically calling for a change, a people-centered government that is more befitting and proactive, and one that is free from rancour, a government that is willing and ready to move Bauchi State forward.
