Bauchi records 15,000 cases of exam malpractices

Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, Dr Aliyu Usman Tilde, has disclosed that the state recorded 15,000 cases of examination malpractices in the Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) for Junior Secondary School students conducted in August in the state.

Tilde, who revealed this during a media briefing on Wednesday in Bauchi, said that a total of 52,000 students sat for the examination at a time when Governor Bala Mohammed dissolved his cabinet.

“There were a lot of malpractices, especially in the multiple-choice questions.

“The children were being dictated the answers, I must confess.

“You pick a whole school and you find all they are writing is the same sentences, you’ll know that someone was dictating to them or wrote it for them.”
