Bauchi pensioners demand N6bn pension, gratuity backlog

Chairman of the state association, Alhaji Habu Gar and that of the Bauchi Local Govern-ment Area chapter, Alhaji Yahaya Umar, in a joint conference yesterday at the secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, appealed to the relevant bodies to look into the matter.
Habu Gar lamented that many members of the association have died waiting for the money.
On his part,  Yahaya Umar said some wor-kers in the state who retired about two years ago were yet to receive their gratuity.
Effort to speak to the Chairman, Local Government Pensions Board, Alhaji Danladi Abubakar and the Head of Service Mr Abdon Gin, for their comments proved abortive.
